Established in 1954, Brooklyn Center for the Performing Arts at Brooklyn College is an independent, nonprofit organization located on the scenic campus of Brooklyn College. Brooklyn Center’s mission is to present outstanding performing arts and arts education programs, reflective of Brooklyn’s diverse communities, at affordable prices.

Neighborhood Business Circle

The Neighborhood Business Circle is a new benefit for all current Brooklyn Center Members. The program extends special discounts and offers to our Members at participating local businesses when they present their Membership card.

Parking

Limited on-campus paid parking is available for most Brooklyn Center performances, conveniently located within easy walking distance to the theater and fully accessible for patrons using wheelchairs.

Pre-Show Activities

Throughout the season, Brooklyn Center hosts a variety of pre-show events, from discussions with artists and scholars, to storytime hour with readings of classic children’s tales. full schedule of these special offerings

The Walt Whitman Theatre

This magnificent art-deco, 2,380-seat theatre, named after the Brooklyn-born poet Walt Whitman, opened in 1955 as the centerpiece for the Performing Arts Center. Some of the world’s beloved and most accomplished artists have graced the footlights

Every year, Brooklyn Center’s SchoolTime series reaches tens of thousands of students from public, private, and home schools across the borough and beyond, introducing them to the magic and wonder of live performing art
